The optimal time to stain your deck is when the air and wood surface temperatures are between 50° and 90°F. Do not use the stain in direct sunlight, and refrain from applying if rain is expected within the next 24-48 hours.

The size of your deck is the most important element in determining how long it will take to complete the project, but you should allocate at least two days. If your deck needs to be power washed or replaced with any boards, the job may take an extra day or two to complete.
